Balta confirms its sustainable approach with the introduction of six electric cars
Sustainable mobility is one of the policy areas of the recent European Green Deal. Balta wants to align its sustainability strategy with this European roadmap and continues to seize opportunities to continue to further reduce its carbon footprint.
On Friday, January 15, 2021, six electric cars of the latest Volkswagen model ID.3 were introduced in the fleet. In collaboration with Top Motors and EDI (“Electric by D'Ieteren”), the selected drivers were invited for a personal explanation and an e-drivers course.
Fabienne Soenen, SAP consultant - “It's great that we had the opportunity to choose an electric company car. This is the ideal timing: as we work from home, long distances are less needed. The latest features, such as the pre-heating system are a plus for me.”
Geert D’Haese, SSHEQ director (safety, security, health, environment and quality) - “With this pilot project, Balta confirms its ambition to evolve towards a more sustainable car policy that meets today's needs. Balta continues to promote more sustainable means of transport among staff and is actively working to reduce emissions.”
In addition, Balta continues to research shifting modes of transport to greener alternatives, such as the use of inland waterways to the port of Antwerp for inbound materials and outbound end products.
Finally, the implemented expansion of the teleworking policy contributes to a reduced ecological footprint.
